20 Seeds Per Pack

Name: Serrano Pepper
Scientific Name: Capsicum annuum

The second most used chili pepper in Mexican cuisine. Commonly used in pico de gallo and sauces, the serrano pepper is noted to be hotter than the jalapeno pepper and provides a familiar flavor to Mexican cuisine. The peppers themselves are smaller than the jalapeno, usually between 1 and 4 inches’ long and a little thinner. Enjoyed both raw and cooked, green or ripe.

Origination: Puebla, Hidalgo
Recommended Uses: Culinary
Height: 2 – 5ft (0.5-1.5m)
Hardiness: zones: USDA 11+
Flower Color: White
Maturity: 60-90 Days

Growing Instructions:
Full sun, moderate water. Protect from frost.
Seeds should be planted in spring once threat of frost has passed, or 4-8 weeks early indoors. Keep seeds moist until germination, which usually occurs within a couple weeks. Once plants have two sets of true leaves they can be acclimated to the full sun, and then transplanted. Once the plants start to get taller and set fruit, staking may be necessary to better support the plant.
Mature fruits will eventually turn red, but you may pick them while they are still green.
