Squash, Winter Waltham Butternut, Cucurbita Moschata, 30 Seeds Per Pack, Organic, Heirloom, GMO Free

30 Seeds Per Pack

Name: Squash, Winter Waltham Butternut
Scientific Name: Cucurbita Moschata
Family: Cucurbitaceae

Great for adding the fall flavor to meals during the colder months, moschata varieties are the squash used in commercial pumpkin pie mix. With a sweeter and better texture compared to pumpkins it’s easy to see why. Great for making pies, soups, bread, and plenty of other dishes. The Waltham butternut is also more disease, heat, and pest resistant compared to other cultivars.

Origination: North America
Recommended Uses: Culinary
Height: 8"–12" long
Hardiness: USDA Zones 3-7
Flower Color: Yellow
Maturity: 100 Days

Growing Instructions:
Full sun, Moderate water
Direct sow for best results, if you are starting indoors to get a head start biodegradable pots are recommended. Plant after several weeks after the threat of frost has passed, planting seeds 1” deep, using 2-3 seeds per mound, spacing rows out 6’-8’ giving plenty of room for the vines to spread. Seeds should be kept moist until germination, and then thinned to a couple seedlings per mound once the leaves start to reach about 3”. The squash will be ready for harvest when the rind is hard, and not easily dent-able with your fingernail. Cut the stem (opposed to breaking it off) leaving an inch or two attached – keeping the fruit whole and no opening for infection or rotting. Bruising can spoil the squash, otherwise it can be stored for months in a cool dry place.

The seeds look good! I'm a repeat customer, so that should say everything.
